The Conference on Belarusian Studies takes place in London in May, serving as a multidisciplinary forum of Belarusian studies in the West, and offering a rare networking opportunity for researchers of Belarus.
UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies, the Ostrogorski Centre, and the Francis Skaryna Belarusian Library and Museum invite paper proposals from established academics and doctoral researchers for the 12th London Annual Conference on Belarusian Studies, to discuss various aspects of contemporary Belarusian studies.
The 12th annual conference will take place in May 2027 in a hybrid format (online and in-person). The Annual London Lecture on Belarusian Studies will follow the main conference panels. Those attending in person will be able to attend a reception at UCL and a tour of the Francis Skaryna Belarusian Library and Museum, Church of St Cyril of Turau & All the Patron Saints of the Belarusian People.
The organisers are interested in papers that discuss history, political science, business, political economy, literature, sociology, and religious studies. Interdisciplinary studies are particularly encouraged. Selected papers will be peer-reviewed and published in the Journal of Belarusian Studies in 2027.
The organising committee includes Prof Yarik Kryvoi (co-chair), Prof Andrew Wilson (co-chair), Peter Braga, and Dr Karalina Matskievich.
The conference will be recorded. You can watch earlier editions of the conference on this web site.
Conference partners: the Journal of Belarusian Studies, British Association of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies (BASEES), and Anglo-Belarusian Society.
We plan to publish the call for papers no later than October 2027. To express your interest, please complete this form.
